Physical therapists apply research and proven techniques to prevent and improve a health condition that limits the body’s ability to move and function. Treatment provided will help an individual to develop, maintain and restore maximum movement and function. Treatment is provided in circumstances where movement and function are threatened by aging, injury, disease or environmental factors. Specializing in orthopedic injuries, our staff manages and treats disorders and injuries of the musculoskeletal system including rehabilitation after orthopedic surgery. We are trained in the treatment of post-operative orthopedic procedures, fractures, acute sports injuries, arthritis, sprains, strains, back and neck pain, spinal conditions and joint replacements.
Occupational therapy is a science-driven, evidence-based profession enabling people of all ages to engage in activities of daily living. Treatment includes developing a program to improve, sustain or restore independence to any person who has an injury illness or disability. Our Occupational therapist specializes in workers compensation injuries, hand and upper extremity injuries and treating patients to return to pre-injury abilities. All programs will be designed to meet the individual needs.
Athletic Trainers are professionals who specialize in preventing, recognizing, managing and rehabilitating athletic-related illnesses and injuries that result from sports. Massage involves acting on and manipulating the body with pressure – structured, unstructured, stationary, or moving – tension, motion, or vibration, and is performed manually or with mechanical aids. Massage targets tissue that may include muscles, tendons, ligaments, skin, joints, or other connective tissue, as well as lymphatic vessels, or organs of the gastrointestinal system.
Exercise Physiologists are specialists who study the function of the human body during various acute and chronic exercise conditions. These effects are significant during both short, high-intensity exercises, as well as with prolonged strenuous exercise such as done in endurance sports like marathons, ultra marathons, and road bicycle racing. Our Exercise Physiologists also assist clients at the conclusion of therapy by designing individual exercise programs both at home and at the Performance and Wellness Institute.
