Headache

Millions of people suffer form neck pain and headaches. The Point Sports Medicine offers a complete headache program. Our goal is to eliminate your headache and teach you exercise to stretch and strengthen muscles, improve posture and to enhance a healthy life style. Programs include a comprehensive evaluation, modalities, manual therapy, and exercise program.

Balance

The balance program at The Point will improve your balance and coordination so that you can enjoy an active lifestyle without fear of falling. Our therapists begin with a complete evaluation of your range of motion, strength, reflexes, walking ability, and coordination. A treatment plan will be designed to address your specific needs. Your plan will include instructions for exercise, stretching, strengthening and balance activities. As your balance improves you will be given exercises to continue at home. Your therapist will teach you strategies to avoid falls, identify potential danger areas in your home, and the proper use of adaptive equipment. As you return to the activities you enjoy in life, you may want to return for our ongoing classes to continue to build your strength and balance.

Joint Replacement

Therapy that prepares the patient to be at their strongest before surgery has been proven to lessen recovery time and increase the overall success of the procedure. Post operative therapy improves the patients’ ability to heal and restore function to the involved body part. Therapists specialize in helping patients that have had joint replacemnents regain movement and mobility as well as gain confidence in the use of the new joint and its function. This program has helped many individuals go through the joint replacement process in better overall condition and most experience a speedier recovery to everyday activities.

Pool

The Point Sport Medicine houses a 10’x16’ heated therapy pool with a hydraulic lift. The pool is equipped with an exercise area as well as whirlpool both kept at differing temperatures between 90-102 degrees. By providing a reduced weight bearing environment treatment advances with range of motion, strengthening, and exercise performance. The viscosity of water provides an excellent source of resistance that is incorporated with hydrostatic pressure to decrease swelling and improve joint position awareness. The Point is able to combine the best of both pool therapies with land therapy in one convenient location.

Work Compensation

Millions of workers are injured on the job with many of those suffering orthopedic injuries. The Point Sports Medicine has extensive experience in treating worker compensation injuries while understanding both the employer and employee needs. Our high degree of focus on job simulated functional therapy programs have an excellent rate of return to work. We offer traditional therapy as well as work conditioning programs, fit for duty evaluations, and functional capacity evaluations.

Athletic Training

Our Athletic trainers are nationally board certified and state licensed. Athletic Trainers are highly trained professionals specializing in the recognition, evaluation and immediate treatment of sport injuries. Our Athletic Trainers also provide serves to area high schools as well as other sporting venues.

Sports Injury and Medicine

Our team of experienced Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Exercise Physiologists, Athletic Trainers, Kinesiologists, and Strength and Conditioning Trainers are well equipped to take care of all of your acute and chronic sports injuries. From instruction on first aid, bracing, splinting, and taping to information on sports specific exercise programs for stretching, strengthening, proprioception, and core stabilization. Our team will design a program for you that will address not only your injury but also your future goals. Our desire is to allow you to return to you activities without limitations and with the full confidence to progress your activities.

Our staff continues to update and share knowledge obtained through continuing education and practical courses. This allows us to provide you with the most current and evidence based therapy approaches.

We will take you from injury through rehabilitation and on to your return to optimal health and performance. Our years of experience and direct communication with all providers will allow you to have a comprehensive and direct approach to meet your needs. Lymphedema

This medical condition causes an accumulation of fluids in the arms, legs or face. The lymphatic system is designed to drain fluids and proteins from blood to tissue. When drainage becomes blocked, swelling occurs below the affected area. There are several risk factors including under arm axillary radiation therapy, lymph node resection, cellulitis, fungal infections, some cancers and obesity. Women are at particular risk following cancer treatments. Our therapists take a multi-disciplinary approach to drain the swollen areas. This includes manual lymph drainage, compression bandaging and garments, compression pumping, and exercise. Your physician may want to refer you to The Point for a full evaluation and treatment program for lymphedema.
